Kesang Tashi, was born in Tibet in the Gyalthang, region of Kham. He came to the US and graduated from Dartmouth, with a subsequent Master’s Degree from the University of Wisconsin. For the past thirty years he has worked to revitalize Tibet’s rug weaving heritage and has been instrumental in providing opportunity for new generations of Tibetan craftsmen. He built Khawachen, one of the earliest weaving centers in Lhasa, and established the global parent company, InnerAsia Rugs, that has played a leading role in introducing Tibetan rugs to countries around the world. Tashi has an extensive background in travel and in addition to his expertise in Tibetan arts and crafts, his blog will include Tashi’s observations about Tibetan culture, his journeys through out Tibet and the region and cross cultural perspectives on a wide range of other subjects. Tashi is the author of; Of Wool and Loom ; The Tradition of Tibetan Rugs. This book is a comprehensive overview of the history, stylistic range and background of Tibetan Rugs.
